American expat living in Germany with his mate, but as always: Opinionated, militant, geeky, cynical, idealistic, inconsistent, handy with adjectives

Okay, I've been trying to avoid posting about this, but if any of you visitors are lucky enough to be in the Orgoo beta with an invitation to spare, I'd be grateful for it! Just send me a message and you'll get my current address. I'm eager to try a new webmail service now that Google seems more and more to be on the verge of violating its 'Don't be evil' creed. (going to try to keep this sticky until I get invited or Orgoo goes public)

Yes, some of you are very 'cool' for not caring what other people think, so you thumb this down and proclaim your edginess for all to see. I'm addicted though, and why? Because regardless of how pointless it is, arguing over the internet gives me a big ol' stiffy. As for censorship, well, all of the polls I've submitted so far have been accepted.

This goes out to anyone who seriously believes religion is 'under attack' in America.
From the page: "As Eric Zorn of the Chicago Tribune puts it, "consider what the outcry would have been if a lawmaker had launched a similar attack on the beliefs of a religious person."
If that happened, you might have actually heard about this story by now. It would be playing on news stations everywhere. But since the attack is on atheists, this is likely the first time you've read anything about it."

A must read for parents and sensational journalists. Video gaming is the rock music of our generation, villified for no reason by those who just don't 'get it'.

Thank you! Finally someone goes through those nonsense 'amazing fact' lists and debunks the ones that need debunking. Which is to say, quite a few. It's amazing how gullible the average person really is.

Sounds like quackery to me, like trying to describe a person based on whether he prefers his eggs fried or scrambled. My handwriting is mostly illegible and inconsistent because it's something I never use, not because of some hidden nuance of my psyche.

This is a great open source alternative PDF reader that is perfect if all you want to do is read the occasional PDF. Even faster and lighter than Foxit Reader, my previous favorite, and worlds faster than Adobe's piece of bloated crap. Simple, intuitive interface, and no installation required.

Now this sounds like a good idea-- charity with a personal touch that gives you reason to believe that your money is going towards more than some temporary relief.

Misleading. I grew up in eastern Kentucky and it is NOT composed mostly of atheists. I also have trouble believing that West Virginia is that sparse. I think they just failed to count a lot of sects in their survey...

Wow... You know, I fully respect the libertarian viewpoint. I don't think it would work, but I respect it. I don't respect the socially conservative slant Paul injects into it, though. I didn't know it was this pronounced, and it's certainly helped me to solidify my opinion of him. The problem is that it -isn't- just his personal position, it taints everything else too. His support for creationism, his simplistic approach to gay marriage (don't get me wrong, I would love to see the government out of marriage, but as long as the system is the way it is, immigration rights is one thing I would name that states can't grant same-sex couples), don't ask don't tell... he simply is no libertarian.
